Zinc is a mineral that is essential for a healthy immune system, production of certain hormones, wound healing, bone formation, and clear skin. It is required in very small amounts, and is thus known as a trace mineral. Despite the low requirement, zinc is found in nearly every cell of the body and is a key to the proper function of over 300 enzymes, including superoxide dismutase. Hi, Krislea, Glad you found some good info in GVRL. I will caution you to notice that some of the titles are not terribly current, but the scholarship one should lead you to websites with the current info. I like the read-to-me option for scientific & medical terms. Thanks for the comments!
